Re-elect · Whistler Council · Oct 17
For people and the planet. Fifty years in Whistler, decades of volunteering, and nine years on council — with a strong work ethic and a sense of humour.
About Cathy
Cathy arrived in Whistler in 1976 for a winter season and never left. She raised her two kids here — they're now just down the road in Squamish — and has put in more than 40 years at Whistler Blackcomb, mostly as a patroller.
Long before council, she was in the room for her community: chairing the Myrtle Philip and Sea to Sky District Parent Advisory Councils, serving on the BC PAC board, chairing Communities That Care Whistler, and helping found both AWARE and WORCA. In 2016 Whistler named her Citizen of the Year.
Voters first elected her in a 2017 byelection, then returned her to council in 2018 and 2022.
“I have a strong commitment to Whistler, a strong work ethic and a sense of humour. I’m for people and the planet.”
Priorities
Keep building resident housing, with a focus on the front-line workers Whistler runs on. Cathy chairs the Whistler Valley Housing Society — the first housing project to get social housing status.
Make sure Whistler works for every stage of life — including a multi-generational community space that could house a seniors' centre.
Better local bus service and regional transit through the corridor, to ease congestion and cut emissions.
Good governance that keeps residents informed, connected and heard, with decisions made as transparently as possible.
